Massive cleanliness drive organized to promote Swachhata Hi Seva in Kangpokpi

Underlining the essence of cleanliness and as pledged during the launching event of 'Swachhata Hi Seva', a day long mass cleanliness drive with the collective participation of all communities, was conducted today at Kangpokpi District .
The drive was conducted under the initiative of Autonomous District Council, Sadar Hills with an aim to reinforce the Jan Aandolan for sanitation and 'Clean India' initiative .
ADC Sadar Hills Chairman, Haokholal Hangshing, flagged off the 'Massive Cleanliness Drive' in the presence of T Ranjit Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Kangpokpi and other elected members of the District Council and the officials of various Departments, at Multi-purpose Hall, ADC Sadar Hills .

Following the pledged taken during the launching of the campaign, Sadar Hills Autonomous District Council had decided to organize the massive cleanliness drive with the involvement of its employees, the general public, MDCs, CSOs and the student community, in Kangpokpi district .
Hundreds of people with brooms, spades, knives and other tools, came out and enthusiastically participated in the cleanliness drive .
The elected members of ADC Sadar Hills and its employees were engaged in cleaning the campus of Sadar Hills Autonomous District Council office while the public, CSOs, student community, were seen engaged in cleaning the town area including the market sheds, bus stands, roadsides, and other public places, under the guidance of Kangpokpi Town Committee, Women Organization and Youth Union .
Haokholal Hangshing appealed to the people to maintain a clean and hygienic atmosphere in the district and also pledged to continue the drive for a better eco-friendly environment in the district .
"The Swachhta Hi Seva campaign which will culminate on October 2 on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, is aimed at mobilizing the people and reinforcing the Jan Aandolan for sanitation to contribute to Mahatma Gandhi's dream of a Clean India", he said.
Similar drive will also be organized on September 27, and will be flagged off by ADC Sadar Hills vice chairman, Thangjakam Misao, at Keithelmanbi Junior High School, in which each and every schools as well as Dispensary under the jurisdiction of ADC Sadar Hills shall promote the campaign in their respective schools and Dispensaries during School/Office hours.
