Ex-servicemen rally held

Imphal, April 22 2017:
Assam Rifles ex-servicemen rally was conducted by IGAR (S) at Imphal under the aegis of DG AR today.
Today's rally was the second largest rally to be conducted by Assam Rifles in Manipur.
The mega event was presided by Major General Virendra Singh, Inspector General Assam Rifles (South).
The rally saw a participation of 678 ex-servicemen including World War II veterans, Veer Naris, widows and dependants from all the districts of Manipur.
The rally commenced with a welcome song by the children of the Assam Rifles Public School, Mantripukhri.
At the event, Major General Virendra Singh emphasised that Assam Rifles is focused on the welfare of the veterans and is committed to help the veterans lead a dignified life.
He said that the conduct of Pension Adalat and Open House were aimed to address the pension related grievances of the ex-servicemen .
He also exhorted the State Government Department, banks, hospitals and civil agencies to extend maximum support to the veterans who had dedicated the prime of their lives to the noble cause of our Nation.
Maj Gen Virendra Singh said, "This rally is not just a single day affair but rather the beginning of bond with the veterans" .
He also thanked the State Government, media and civil officials for their cooperation.
Veterans and Veer Naris were then escorted to various stalls and other facilities established at the venue.
The State Departments including Horticulture, Agriculture, Fisheries, Industries and Food departments were also set up.
Military and ethnic stalls showcasing the history, tradition and culture of Assam Rifles.
2 Assam Rifles Band provided a melodious environment to the rally.
Sudha Singh, vice president, Assam Rifles Wives Welfare Association (ARWWA) and other members of ARWWA also attended the occasion and interacted with the Veer Naris, widows and dependants of ex-servicemen.
