Imphal, September 20, 2009:
Asserting that there would be no let up in the agitation demanding the resignation of the Chief Minister, punishment of the guilty police commandos and officers, the Apunba Lup today said that they are able to carry on the agitation with the help and support of the people.
In a statement, Apunba Lup said that the agitation is democratic, but the Government is using all the forces at its disposal to silence the voice of the people.
Instead of listening to the voice of the people, the Chief Minister has been using the police force to hunt down functionaries of the Apunba Lup, as if they are criminals.
|
Moreover, the police have also been gathering the photographs of all Lup functionaries, it said and questioned whether this is a move to eliminate them at sight.
Under the guise of working for the people, the Government is hell bent on targeting the public, it alleged and added that until and unless Ibobi is removed, there is the danger that the Manipuri society may be eliminated altogether.
The Apunba Lup has also urged the civil society organisations and public to extend more proactive co-operation.
