HoD clarifies on mark tampering allegation

Head of Department of Dance and Music, Manipur University, Dr M Macha Chaoreikanba has clarified that there were no instances of tampering marks secured by the students of the Department .
Speaking to The Sangai Express, the HoD explained that the accusation labelled against him is mostly concerned with the BA Dance and BA Music internal assessment marks .
He clarified that the courses are held on a yearly basis and the theory and practical examinations of the said courses are held in the same manner as other Department's courses.
He also clarified that the internal assessment marks are given by the respective subject teachers .
Macha Chaoreikanba stated that the Department was established in 2005 and the MA Dance course has been continuing since then.
The BA Dance and BA Music courses were added later .
He clarified that the accusation regarding unethical practices during issue of MA examination admit cards is false and baseless .
The HoD claimed that there was an initial proposal to sanction some money for the Department's maintenance while submitting the MA examination form .
This was in accordance with the guidelines of National Assessment and Accreditation Council and for maintenance of the Department .
The students and teachers donated what they could and there was no compulsion to donate the fund, Dr Chaoreikanba added.
