The Manipur Students Association, Delhi, held a condolence meeting at the University of Delhi on the death of Pebam Chitaranjan who made himself a human torch on August 15 while opposing the continuous oppression of Indian paramilitary forces and the Armed Forces Special Powers Act, 1958.In a statement, the Association said that it salutes the supreme sacrifice of Chitaranjan for his spirit to fight against the 'gross violations of human rights', 'the repressive laws' and 'the State atrocities'.
MSAD also condoled the killing of Konjengbam Memita and saluted her sacrifice for the cause of the peoples' movement against the AFSPA.

also appealed to the people of Manipur to intensify the fight for democratic rights, for which Chitaranjan and Memita sacrificed their lives.
Pledging its support, MSAD said it will always stand on the side of the people's democratic movement against repression and injustices, adding it is fully committed to the struggle against the anti-people legislations, not only in Manipur but elsewhere.
