Biren reaches out with New Manipur call

Chief Minister N Biren Singh has urged the people of the State to extend support to the new Government in building a New Manipur, where there is no community and class difference.
He was speaking at the opening function of the golden jubilee celebration and 31st general conference cum sports meet of Tangkhul Aze Katamnao Long (Southern Tangkhul Students' Union) at S Laho (Leingangching) village, near Litan in Ukhrul district today.
The Chief Minister stated that the BJP-led Government is putting in serious efforts to build a new Manipur, where people may enjoy equal facilities, opportunities and' privileges.
The Chief Minister began his speech seeking apology from the crowd for arriving late.
He pleaded, "Huina kahai wuivang pheomilo" (Forgive me for coming late).
The mammoth crowd applauded in unison showing their forgiveness to the Chief Minister.
Praising the talents of Tangkhul people in the field of sports, N Biren then took the names of great footballers like late Oja Aleng, goal-keeper Athui, Livingstone, Somatai Shaiza and current coach of NEROCA-FC Gift Raikhan.
Amidst loud applause, the Chief Minister also announced that necessary funds for the construction of a permanent RCC pavilion at the function venue would be earmarked in the State budget.
He also said that the Government would allocate funds under Khelo India programme for laying natural grass turf at the newly constructed village playground, where the function was being held.
For the convenience of the public and travellers, N Biren also assured to construct a public toilet cum waiting shed at Litan Bazar and construct the office building of SDC Thawai at the earliest.
Asking the people not to worry about their livelihood and job opportunities now, the Chief Minister said that the Government had already begun providing loans under Government's StartUp Project and other welfare schemes.
He said that the Government is ever ready to provide financial assistance to those who are hard working and willing to be self employed.
Stating that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is focusing on providing employment to the youth through skill development, the Chief Minister said that the State Government had already started giving loans to skilled and educated youth.
N Biren said that he had provided a loan of about Rs 10 lakh to Nungbi potters.
Regarding Government jobs, the Chief Minister urged the people not to offer money to anybody to secure Government employment, while cautioning that he is now keeping a close eye on Government recruitments to catch/penalise the corrupt people/officials.
With regard to road connectivity, the Chief Minister said that the Government of India had earmarked Rs.25,000 crore for development of roads in the State.
As such, Imphal-Jessami road would also be automatically widened and revamped in course of time, he said while adding that at least a few selected important IVRs of Leingangching would also be blacktopped soon.
CAF & PD Minister Karam Shyam, Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Letpao Haokip, Forest and Environment Minister Th Shyamkumar, Phungyar AC MLA K Leishiyo, ADC Ukhrul Chairman Dickson Kumrah, ADC Members, Media Advisor to CM Irengbam Arun, Ukhrul DC Dr Harmit Singh Pahuja, Kamjong DC Kengoo Zuringla and other top civil and police officers also attended the function.
