Police nabs 2 in Firoj killing case

Kakching, January 19 2015:
Police on Sunday night arrested two persons including an IRB personnel in connection with the killing of Md Firoj alias Amu.
It may be recalled that Firoj was thrashed by a group of people in the intervening night of January 14 and 15 at Khangabok New Market in Thoubal district.
He later died in the hospital.
The two arrested are Thokchom Heramani Singh (30) s/o Th Angada Singh and Moirangthem Sanathoi Singh (16) s/o M Inao Singh, both residents of Khangabok Bazar.
Heramani is also working in the 3rd IBR as driver.
Angry locals claimed that Firoj was a thief.
They blocked the Imphal-Moreh stretch of NH-2 at Khangabok area for some hours on Monday.
The road block was lifted at around 11 am only after Kh Surnalata, Adhyaksha of Thoubal Zilla Parishad, Pradhan and other local club members, who went to meet the SP of Thoubal, were conveyed that the two persons were picked up not for their involvement in the crime but for questioning in connection with the incident.
Later on, a public meeting resolved to take recourse to agitation if the arrested two persons were not released unconditionally at the earliest.
