IOC depot paralysed, oil pumps dry

With oil
tanker drivers continuing with
their cease work strike in
protest against the grievous
injuries inflicted upon fellow
driver Usham Gojen, daily
operations at IOC's
Chingmeirong depot were
suspended today too.
During the economic
blockade two trucks of
The
Sangai Express
were also
vandalised and attacked upon
by the blockade supporters at
Kangpokpi yesterday.
Soon after the oil tanker
drivers launched their cease
work strike, the depot ceased
its normal activities since
around 1.30 pm yesterday.
As
a result, most oil pumps re-
mained shut today.
Meanwhile, a joint meet-
ing of Consumer Affairs
Food &Public Distribution
Commissioner, IOC officials
and representatives of the All
Manipur Petroleum Products
Transporters Association, All
Manipur Petroleum Trans-
porters Association and the
All Manipur Bulk Petroleum
Transporters Association was
held this morning.
Even though the meeting
discussed about extending all
possible assistance to Gojen
from the side of the Govern-
ment, it could not arrive at
any understanding.

Retail Sales Office's Chief
Divisional Retail Sales Man-
ager cum State Level
Coordinator Sinam Ibungoton
informed that there are 14
days' stock of petrol, 18
days' stock of diesel and four
days' stock of LPG.
