Transport Dept detains 30 diesel autos

Imphal, August 16 2016:
The State Transport Department today detained 30 diesel autos which violated safety norms and traffic rules.
State Transport Authority Inspector Th Dinachandra said that the Department carried out a drive to penalise the autos which do not have necessary permits and modify seats.
He urged the auto drivers not to carry passengers on driver's seat.
Regarding High Security Registration Plate (HSRP), he said that many vehicle owners have failed to turn up to collect HSRP plates after submitting applications, he said.
In Imphal West district, 3000 number plates of two-wheelers/three-wheelers and 2000 number plates of four-wheelers are still lying unclaimed.

In Imphal East, 223 plates of two-wheelers and 137 of four-wheelers are still lying, while in Bishnupur district, 69 plates of two-wheelers and 15 of three-wheelers and 80 of four-wheelers are yet to be claimed.
In Thoubal district, 80 plates of two-wheelers, 70 of four-wheelers and 10 of three-wheelers are lying unclaimed, he said and added that all these registration number plates would be disposed if these are claimed within August.
He also informed all the vehicle owners who have registration numbers of other States to change it to State registration numbers at the earliest.
Joint Administrative Council Under 5-tonne Passenger Service convenor L Somorendro also took part in today's drive.
All the detained diesel autos were kept at MSRTC complex, Moirangkhom.
