Imphal, September 15, 2009:
Taking a dig at the SPF Government's claim of striving for development and peace, the Kasom Khullen Sub-Division Development Association has questioned the failure of the State Government to pay any attention to the sub-division for the last 50 years.
The association also questioned the inability of the State to deliver PDS goods in time.
Talking to media persons at Mission Hall here today, Chairman of the Kasom Khullen Sub-Division Development Association, Jojo Robertson said that AAY rice and BPL rice for the month of August for Kasom Khullen sub-division have not been released till date even as the concerned agents have deposited the necessary amount at the relevant authority.
Even as the necessary amounts have been deposited at the same time, different areas of Ukhrul district have been already given the PDS items while some others have been left out.
Asking for the possible reasons for the delay in releasing PDS items for Kasom Khullen sub-division, Jojo Robertson cautioned that the Government's dream of bringing peace in the state would be never fulfilled if such inconsistent and non-uniform attitude of the Government continues.
Repeated appeals and complaints to draw attention of the Government towards the pathetic condition of the state highway which passes through Kasom Khullen sub-division have yielded no positive result, he decried.
The Works Minister's assurance made during his visit to Kasom Khullen sub-division in February this year to repair the highway according to need of the time has also come to nought.
Repairing work has been halted shortly after it was initiated on a short stretch.
Saying that there were plans to develop the 35 kms long state highway from Chandrakhong to Kasom Khullen into a standard double-lane highway with funding from Asian Development Bank, Jojo Robertson asked about the Rs 18 crores sanctioned under Special Plan Assistance for development of the highway.
Observing that such irregular practices have severely reduced people's faith in the Government, he questioned the Government's difficulty to repair the road stretch.
"Are not the people of Kasom Khullen sub-division citizens of this state?, Jojo Robertson demanded to know when would the Government repair the road stretch.
