Imphal, January 14 2016:
Titular king Leishemba Sanajaoba today, laid the foundation stone for construction of a twin statue of R Suisa and Chingsubam Akaba at Ima Panthoibi Lam-pak, Langthabal Lep Makha Leikai.
Attending the function as chief guest, Leishemba Sanajaoba said that with the setting up of the twin structures, Ima Panthoibi Lampak will henceforth be called Integrity park.
This is the third statues of Suisa and Akaba in the State.
The other two had been set up at Imphal East and Ukhrul districts.
Calling for peace and harmony among different communities in the State, Sanajaoba said differences and rifts between different communities are caused by pseudo leaders in the State.
R Suisa and Chingsubam Akaba are the leaders who fought to establish love and harmony among the people of hills and valley.
Not many people, however, are aware of the contributions made by these two leaders for the State, he added.
Tangkhul Naga Wung-naolong, president Sweeten Rahing lamented the changes in culture and customary law in the State.
Manipur which was once fondly called the land of golds have become a lost kingdom in modem times.
Although there has been marked rise in the literacy rate of the State, the feeling of unity and harmony have faded considerably.
The new generations are busy imitating an alien culture.
Suisa and Akaba were such leaders who ventured to unite the people of the State.
The land is vulnerable to extenal forces if the people don't trust one another.
Without the knowledge of history, an individual has no identity.
Accepting and celebrating one's culture and appreciating other's could go a long way in the fight for integrity, he added.
