Police arrest 6 KCP cadres over CCpur incident

Three days after the local police have taken up a case against surrendered KCP (MC) Nongdrenkhomba group for assaulting policemen on duty at the district hospital Churachandpur, six cadres of the group including its C-in-C were arrested today, police sources said.
After duly investigating the case, a police team led by SDPO Thanlon has arrested six cadres of the KCP (MC) Nongdrenkhomba group from the 46 Assam Rifles camp today at around 3.30pm, disclosed Churachandpur SP L Mangkhogin Haokip tonight before a handful of reporters.
He said the arrested men included the C-in-C of the group Ningthoujam Romen Singh alias Nongdrenkhomba, a Self-styled corporal and four Privates.
The arrested former rebels were however released on bail moments after the police made the arrest and obtained their statement, as all the charges made against them were bail-able offences, stated the SP.
They have agreed to appear before the investigating officer or the OC whenever summon, he added.
The SP also handed over a photocopy of the group's 'Apology Letter' which was marked copy to � SP Churachandpur, DIG 27 Sector AR, General Public and CO 46 AR and signed by its C-in-C and General Secretary Taibanganba to the press.
