Khurpui-Lam festival

Khurpui-Lam Organisation, Manipur organised the 22nd State level Khupui-Lam festival at the auditorium of MFDC today.
Speaking at the occasion as chief guest, Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam said, Khupui-Lam is a festival of Kom tribe.
Although, Kom is a small community having population of around 20,000 to 30,000, people of this community have been making huge contribution in different fields especially in sports and administration.
The Deputy Chief Minister also mentioned the need for promoting Kom culture and putting in effort to bring all round development of Kom people.
Gaikhangam observed that peace and harmony would prevail in Manipur if history and culture of different communities are discussed for mass awareness.
Hill Area Committee Chairman Dr Chaltonlien Amo while speaking at the function said, communal harmony could be brought with the study of indigenous culture of different communities.
He also expressed concern over the rise of violence in Manipur.
IFCD Minister Ngamthang Haokip, Agriculture Minister Md Abdul Nasir, MLA T Manga Vaiphei, MLA TN Haokip and boxer MC Mary Kom were also present at the occasion.
