Imphal, January 11 2021:
Dr L Mahendra Singh, Chairman of Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur (COHSEM) said a decision on examinations to be conducted by the council will be taken by the Government based on the feedbacks submitted by the Principals of schools.
Dr L Mahendra said this at a discussion programme with school Principals held today regarding the viability of conducting higher secondary examination at Johnstone Higher Secondary School.
Speaking at the discussion programme, he said the council has completed collecting feedbacks on the condition of teaching-learning and viability of conducting the examination from the higher secondary schools in Manipur.
He added that out of the 188 schools, 136 schools expressed disposition to conduct the examination.
He added that thinking of how the students will give exams without attending classes has been the biggest dilemma.
In order to address this issue and other issues including discussion on whether strict maintenance of SOPs can be achieved if classes were to resume, the face to face interaction was held today.
"Our Government has already framed SOPs to be maintained at schools during class and exams in Government run schools and enquired if the privately run institutes can follow suit ?", added Dr L Mahendra.
He also said that the Council had already given instructions to all the schools regarding the 30% reduction in syllabus for this year.
The council will submit the compiled feedbacks they have received from schools to the Government and await a final decision, added the Chairman.
He also assured the attending Principals that the council was fully prepared to conduct the exam including doubling the exam centres to 202 in order to have ample space between students and they were already considering requesting other schools and colleges in addition to all the 188 higher secondary schools to accommodate all the students without compromising their safety.
The discussion programme was also attended by Ch Biren Singh, Secretary COHSEM, A Sukumar Singh, controller of examination COHSEM and Principals of various schools.
