Imphal, August 06 2011:
Students in Manipur should not think studying in Delhi is better and not be discouraged if they are not able to go outside the State to study, MLA K
Meghachandra has stated.
Speaking as chief guest of the 65th foundation day celebration of DM College of Arts at the college hall here today, Meghachandra pointed out that many IAS, IPS and other Government officers in various Departments today have studied in DM College.
There are also many colleges and educational institutions in Manipur today which are academically more renown than other colleges of India.
The MLA also appealed to the students to work hard to become successful in life since education is very competitive today.
Principal of DM College of Arts Dr A Nungshitombi Devi, who presided over the celebration, recalled that there was only Art stream in the beginning of DM College while it was functioning from the present Science block.
But today, the college has three streams with inclusion of Science and Commerce.
The College has also accredited to B+ grade five years back.
While appealing to the students to attend classes regularly since the semester system has been introduced in the college, Dr Nungshitombi also informed that proposal has to be send for construction of separate toilets for boys and girls.
Students coming to college without uniform will not be allowed to enter the college campus, she added.
Floral tributes were also paid to Late Dhanamanjuri, in whose name the college has been christened.
The foundation day celebration was organised by the students' union of DM College of Arts.
