The 9th edition of Mahousa Ima Lairembi Ningsing Tha 2017, a month-long environmental campaign organized annually by Royal Riders Manipur (RRM), kicked off today with a poster and sticker campaign at Badminton Indoor Stadium of DM College.
Speaking to the media persons, Ziit Saikhom, General Secretary of RRM said that the campaign is being hosted in cognizance of the theme of the United Nation's month-long observation in connection with World Environment Day "Connecting People to Nature" .

Ziit Saikhom also said that only a small portion of plastic products used is recycled, while a dangerously large amount of them ends up as waste affecting the nature.
Human health problems have grown over the past decades due to the harmful chemicals produced from the plastic products, he added.
In the quest for avoiding the use of plastic products and consequently stopping environment degradation arising from the chemicals released from plastics, support from the public is very much needed.
The support of the public applies similarly in the RRM's campaign for a free plastic environment which has been going on successfully for many years, Ziit asserted.
Today's poster and sticker campaign which kick off from DM College passed all the way through Lila Singh Khongnangkhong, Chingmeirong, Khurai-Lamlong, Kongba Bazar, Singjamei and main thoroughfares of Imphal East and ImphalWest districts before winding up at the starting point, the Badminton Indoor Stadium of DMCollege.
The month-long environment campaign, Mahousa Ima Lairembi Ningsing Tha 2017 will conclude on June 5 at the office of RRM at Games Village, Langol after a mass public awareness campaign.
