Arson attempt at Ukhrul DCs official quarter condemned

Hunphun Executive Council (HEC) condemned the reported arson attempt at the official quarter of Ukhrul DC Sunday evening by some miscreants.
Hunphun Executive Council, in a press conference stated that the unfortunate incident of Napet Palli where tribal girls were molested on December 24 last and the Kongkan killing where two innocent hunters were shot dead by UNLF cadres on Dec 28 last need condemnation from every right thinking persons, while expressing that the burning down of the DCs official vehicle Sunday evening by frenzy mob as very unfortunate.
"We feel that the episode was very unfortunate," remarked the HEC Chairman Edmund Chiphang.
The Chairman further said that "On top of it the arson attempt at the DCs official quarter was quite illogical while terming it
as 'senseless act' .
The chairman categorically said that 'such senseless act should not be repeated in future'" .
After setting the Deputy Commissioner's official vehicle on fire Sunday evening, some unruly persons threw petrol soaked shredded sacks lighted with fire at the DC's residence located at Tangrei from two sides.
The fire was however extinguished by alert staff before it spread further.
The HEC also appreciated calm handling of the situation by Deputy Commissioner R Sudhan and the District police.
In the mob outburst many policemen also got hurt in stone throwing.
