Imphal, December 04 2010:
MPP MLA RK Anand has demanded a white paper from the Government of India with detailed accounts starting from the alleged arrest of UNLF Chairman RK Meghen alias Sanayaima in Dhaka on September 29 till the stage he was produced by the NIA before a Court at Guwahati.
Sanayaima's statement that he was arrested at Dhaka, not from Bihar, testified that the Government of India has been openly deceiving the people of the North East region, asserted Anand while speaking to some media persons today.
Concealment of a fact known at the level of the Prime Minister and Home Minister, thereby violating the country's law, cannot be downplayed or dismissed lightly.
Non-application of the provisions of law at the time of arresting Meghen was a serious challenge to the dignity of Manipuri nation.
The Government of India is obliged to give a convincing and authentic statement on the arrest of Meghen.
The Govt of Manipur, too, should take bold steps in order to protect the life of Meghen, Anand asserted.
New Delhi's claim that Meghen was arrested from Bihar after he was arrested from Bangladesh is a tactical ploy.
The recent visit of Chief Minister Okram Ibobi to New Delhi was undertaken to consult the 'secret drama", alleged MPP president Dr Nimaichand Luwang.
He went on to allege that Manipur Police were involved in the arrest of Meghen.
One State police officer went to Delhi and identified Meghen there, Dr Nimaichand added.
Sanayaima was produced before a special Court of the NIA at Guwahati yesterday and he has been remanded to 13 days custody.
He has been taken to Delhi today evening.
