Curfew lifted from IE, IW ; Govt announces Rs 5 lakh ex-gratia each

A high level emergency meeting of the Council of Ministers was held today with Chief Minister O Ibobi in the chair and the meeting decided to give ex-gratia of Rs five lakh to families of the deceased victims of landslide and flood.
The Chief Secretary, the DGP, DCs and other relevant officials were also present at the meeting.
The Government has also decided to lift curfew which has been in force since July 8 evening, from Imphal East and Imphal West.
During the meeting, the Government directed DCs concerned to submit detail reports within two weeks on the extent of damages caused by floods and landslides, conveyed Government spokesman M Okendro.
After deliberating minutely on the impacts of extensive floods and multiple landslides, the Government decided to give ex-gratia of Rs five lakh each to families of the deceased victims of floods and landslides.
The Government would also extend all possible assistance once the detailed reports are received from the DCs concerned.
In the meantime, the DCs have been directed to take up necessary relief measures as a matter of urgency.
Agriculture Department would soon initiate necessary measures to provide crop seeds which can mature within three months for cultivation in paddy fields which have been inundated and have slim chance of cultivating paddy again within this kharif season, Okendro informed.
He also appealed to all the cultivators not to be disheartened.
The meeting also agreed on completely lifting curfew being imposed in Imphal East and Imphal West districts with effect from today.
However, there would be restrictions on assembly of five or more persons under Section 144 of CrPC, Okendro added.
