Imphal, April 01 2019:
BJP president Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra will visit Imphal on April 5 and 7 respectively in connection with the Lok Sabha election.
Both Amit Shah and Narendra Modi may address election rallies at Hapta Kangjeibung, informed a source.
Meanwhile, three Ward Members of Imphal Municipal Corporation (IMC) have joined BJP after quitting Congress.
The three Ward Members who have joined BJP are L Rome, A Chaoba and K Joychandra.
On the other hand, Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president Gaikhangam told IANS that there were no immediate plans for a second visit to the State by party chief Rahul Gandhi.
"Since the Congress will win both the seats, there is hardly any need for another mammoth public meeting," Gaikhangam added.
Gandhi was in Manipur last month to campaign for the Congress.
Meanwhile BJP candidate in Inner Manipur PC Dr RK Ranjan has stated that Manipur would have never witnessed the restive and rueful situation seen today had the MPs elected from the State genuinely cared for Manipur and worked in the interest of the public.
Speaking at an interaction programme held today at the Lamphelpat residence of BJP Manipur Pradesh spokesman Ch Bijoy, Dr Ranjan said that it was also Congress party which laid the foundation for polarisation of communities.
Many of the problems and issues grappling the State today would have never surfaced had the preceding MPs elected from the State genuinely loved Manipur and worked for the welfare of the people, he said.
Blaming Congress party for sowing seeds of distrust and polarisation between hill people and plain people, Dr Ranjan claimed that the fraternal bond shared between hill people and plain has been restored and strengthened since the N Biren led Government was sworn in through its Go to Hills campaign.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the NDA Government will retain power by winning over 300 Lok Sabha seats.
The State's BJP-led Government would also be further consolidated after the Lok Sabha election, said the BJP candidate.
He then appealed to all the people of the State to give the two BJP candidates an opportunity to highlight people's grievances and aspirations in the Lok Sabha.
Manipur Democratic Alliance convenor and Shiv Sena State unit president N Tombi appealed to all concerned to stop politicising Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) 2016 .
He asserted that CAB 2016 would not harm the interest of Manipur in any manner.
MDA is a common platform of BJP and its allies comprising of 10 political parties.
Appealing to all the people to elect MPs who can voice people's aspirations and grievances in the Lok Sabha, Tombi said that the Congress candidates are contesting the election with business motives for further self-aggrandisement.
BJP Manipur vice-president Jotin Waikhom said that it is only BJP, not Congress, which can save Manipur and India.
Reacting to Congress party's assertion as to why their leaders and candidate O Nabakishore was not arrested if they are involved in CBI cases, Jotin said that they are not arrested because they have taken anticipatory bail.
There will come a time when they would be arrested, he added.
