Amit Shah woos Ukhrul with tourism capital slogan

Addressing a large public gathering at Mission ground, Alungtang, Ukhrul today BJP National president Amit Shah tried to touch the right chord with the people of the district by assuring that the BJP will leave no stone unturned to ensure that Manipur is declared as the tourism capital of India and came down heavily against the Ibobi led Congress Government as a corrupt regime.
On his arrival, Amit Shah was accorded a rousing reception by 44- Ukhrul candidate Somatai Shaiza and 45- Chingai BJP candidate Sword Vashum and prominent BJP leaders and party supporters waving the saffron flag.
Rolling out the red carpet for the National BJP president Talui Youth Club staged the Kharing Kharak Pheichak (Livelihood folk dance).
Obviously mesmerised by the greenery and the beautiful hills, free from air pollution, Amit Shah said Ukhrul district is the Switzerland of India.
Addressing a mega election rally, Amit Shah exuded confidence that if elected to power, BJP will achieve what the Congress could not achieve in 15 years of ruling Manipur.
He urged the people to vote for BJP candidates Somatai Shaiza, Somi Awungshi and Sword Vashum representing three Assembly segments of Ukhrul and Kamjong districts.
Even though huge funds have been pumped in by the Centre, the Congress Government has failed to utilise them for the intended purpose and charged that all the money have been used to line the pockets of the Congress Ministers and MLAs.
The State Government is yet to submit the utilisation certificates of many developmental projects for which huge funds have been released, charged Amit Shah.
In case BJP come to power and form the Government, Manipur would be declared as the tourism capital of India, he declared.
Seeking to woo the voters, Amit Shah said that if BJP is voted to power then BJP's ambitious Vision 2020 can be successfully implemented in the State under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Already the Act East policy has been enforced and is being pursued vigorously, he said and maintained that Manipur will be the corridor to South East Asia.
Such a programme can generate employment for many youngsters, he said and added that this will also reduce the number of young people moving to other parts of the country to seek employment.
Among the North East States, Manipur is noted for her prospect in organic farming and added that it can be ahead of Sikkim if the right procedure is followed.
Assuring that a Sports university will soon be established in the State, Amit Shah said that BJP can acquire the land, something which the Congress could not do in 2 and a half years.
Giving other assurances, Amit Shah said that the National Highways would be upgraded to all weather roads with four lanes.
He also said resolving the insurgency problem is urgent as it hinders development works.
Rameshwar Meena in his speech said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has great respect for the tribals and that is why he has sent the highest authority of the BJP to assess the hill areas to ensure development.
Prahlad Singh Patel, Dr H Borbabu and Soso Shaiza too spoke at the election rally urging the people to vote for the BJP.
Union MoS for Home Kiren Rijiju has been campaigning for the saffron party in the State.
