Imphal, October 31 2020:
Reacting to the recent verbal attacks of Opposition Congress party against BJP, BJP Manipur Pradesh chief spokesman Ch Bijoy has asserted that it was Congress party which introduced all unethical and unlawful practices like distribution of cash to voters at the time of election and hopping from one party to another.
Speaking to media persons today, Bijoy said that it was Congress party which corrupted the electoral politics of Manipur.
There was nothing wrong when Chief Minister N Biren questioned what the Congress party did when they were in power for 15 consecutive years.
They would have been still ruling the State had they done something good for the people when they were in power, said the BJP chief spokesman.
There was a time when there were 33 Ministers in the State when Ibobi was ruling the State as the Chief Minister.
At another point of time, there was no Opposition leader in the State, he said.
Questioning who and which party abolished Federal Party of Manipur, Congress (S) etc from the soil of Manipur, Bijoy asked Congress party not to project themselves as the holy cow at this time of by-election.
Congress party is fast losing its fortune and position because it does not know the role of being an Opposition, he remarked.
Ruling and Opposition parties are like right and left hands in a democracy.
There will be good governance and development when the ruling and Opposition parties discharge their duties effectively and responsibly, Bijoy said.
Instead of giving support and suggestions to the welfare programmes taken up by the Government, Congress party has been conspiring to pull down the Government and create troubles for the public.
With the Congress party not doing its duty as a responsible Opposition party, it is only natural for its MLAs to defect to other parties, said the BJP chief spokesman.
Congress party should ponder over under which rule uniforms meant for Manipur Rifles were diverted to NSCN-IM and 58 pistols went missing from the armoury of 2nd Manipur Rifles, he added.
