PIB organises one day rural media workshop

Press Information Bureau, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, Imphal organised a one-day "Rural Media Workshop" at Lamyanba Shanglen, Palace Compound, today .
Deputy Commissioner of Imphal East, Th Chitra, Editor in-chief of ISTV, Brojendro Ningomba and noted writer, Mutum Upendro, attended the inaugural function of the workshop as the chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively .
Deputy Commissioner Th Chitra, in her address as the chief guest, stressed on the need for organising such workshops and awareness programmes for the media .
She said that media persons need to have a thorough knowledge of the flagship programmes so as to avoid misleading the people as any misinterpretation may lead people in a different way .
She talked at length about the importance of media in developing a country or State stating that media is one of the tools which can reach the people in both rural and urban areas of the State .
Asserting that such workshop is another initiative towards raising awareness on Government policies and welfare programmes to people through media, Chitra hoped that this will help the media in spreading awareness to the people on various Government policies and programmes .
She also hoped that organising such workshop will help media persons in enhancing their capability of reporting Central sponsored social security and welfare programmes, particularly on the flagship programmes of the Government .
ISTV Editor in-Chief, Brojendro Ningomba, urged the media persons present in the workshop to take the advantage of the knowledge about the concept and objectives of the flagship programmes and schemes .
While asserting that Central Government is implementing a total of 105 flagship programmes, Borjendro expressed concern as most of the people are not familiar with the programmes .
He further stressed on the need for media in taking part in the speeding up the development pace by giving emphasis to development reporting .
Media and Communication Officer (MCO) PIB Imphal Premlata Loitam, said that the workshop was being organised considering the need of assimilating the media on the flagship programmes and other welfare programmes of the Government to the people .
Deputy Director in-charge, D Mitra of MSME-DI, Imphal, talking as resource persons in the event, said that MSME-DI caters to the needs of MSME in Manipur and through its branch office located at Dimapur in Nagaland .
Credit Linked Capital Subsidy Scheme (CLCSS) which is related with the technology upgradation of Micro and Small enterprises will be continued further, he said .
The scheme aims at facilitating technology up gradation by providing upfront capital subsidy to Micro and small Enterprises( MSEs) including tiny, khadi, village and coir industrial units, on institutional finance (credit) availed by them for modernisation of their production equipment (plant and machinery) and techniques .
The eligible beneficiaries include sole Proprietorship, Partnerships, Co�operative societies, Private and Public limited companies in the MSME sector .
Priority shall be given to Women entrepreneurs, he asserted .
Y Lukhoi, Additional Director, AYUSH, Manipur said that the authority concerned is proposing to establish herbal garden in 160 schools across all the districts under National AYUSH Mission (NAM) .
Kh Yaiskul Singh, retired senior manager, Manipur Rural Bank talked about Pradhan Mantri MURDA Yojana at the event.
