The president of the Senapati District Consumers' Club, D Maryna of Tunggam Makhufii village, presently residing at Makhrelui, Senapati district has alleged that she was knocked down by a passenger Tata Sumo (NL05/1380) near the Senapati ground waiting shed on September 2 at about 4 pm.
In a statement, Maryna alleged that she was deliberately knocked down since the vehicle was parked on the left side of the highway without any passenger and there was a distance of more than 50 feet that separated them.
Maryna said that the vehicle hit her in reverse gear and she was grievously injured.
The driver showed no signs of remorse nor tendered any apology, claimed Maryna and alleged that it looked more like a life attempt.
Stating that this was not the first time that she has been accosted, Maryna said that on December 19, 2011, when she was about to leave for Delhi along with a member of the Action Committee of SDCC from Tulihal airport, two unidentified persons came asking for the president of SDCC and later asked her to deliver a sealed parcel to a person at Delhi.
The SDCC president said that she refused to deliver the goods and added that the two persons refused to tell her who they were when asked.
In another incident, a transport contractor of CAF and PD Department, Senapati district physically pulled her right arm and offered her a huge amount of money related to PDA issues of Senapati district after being invited to meet them at AOC, Imphal on May 27, 2012 .
Asserting that she had never accepted any bribe till date, Maryna said that she is committed to bringing justice and exposing the individuals involved in corruption in Senapati district and the State.
She added that she is a social activist and has been the president of SDCC since 2003 .
