Entrepreneurship training programme begins

Under the stated objective of ameliorating hardships faced by widows and individuals infected by HIV/AIDS a month-long Entrepreneurship Skill Development Training Programme has been kick-started from today at Senapati district headquarters.
The programme which will be held at Vocational Training Hall of Senapati Women Development Association (SWDA) is organised by Prou Rural Development Society, Senapati under the sponsorship of Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium enterprises.
Attended by about 100 trainees from various pockets of Senapati district, the inaugural programme was held with Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Institute's Deputy director TH Baite and SWDA secretary Angela as the chief guest and president respectively along with Superintendent (Handicraft Section) of Department of Commerce and Industries W Birenjit and Manipur Chapter General secretary of Alzheimer's and related disorders Society of India H Sanamatum as the guests of honour.
In his address as chief guest, Baite strongly stressed on the need for the tribal people to change their life-style and means of livelihood in order to be counted among the global community.
Rather than persist with the age-old practice of toiling hard in the fields compared to minuscule benefit for the labour tribal people should explore other source of livelihood such as investment in less taxing ventures but with compatible benefits, the Deputy Director suggested.
Many other dignitaries also spoke at the occasion lauding the training programme.
