Imphal, May 30 2015 :
Manipur Alliance for Child Rights (MACR), a collective body working towards ensuring rights of children of Manipur, organised a one-day State level consultation pro-gramme on the status of ECCE in Manipur at Manipur Press Club today.
In his keynote address, MACR convenor K Pradip-kumar opined that children's foods provided in various Anganwadi centres must be made tasteful.
He said that activities of Anganwadi centres are probably hampered by the halt of ICDS Mission Mode.
Pradipkumar further said that Government must help these centres enrol more children by changing the present structure to a more systematic one and providing more manpower.
He added that the Government must put in efforts to help people belonging to BPL families send their small kids to Anganwadi centres for early childhood care like in private kids' centres.
He also stressed on the need for early re-launching of ICDS Mission Mode.
Pradipkumar said that many Anganwadi centres do not have buildings although enrolment rate has increased to a great extent.
Saying that supply of material and supplementary nu- tritional food to Anganwadi centres is not satisfactory, he mainatined that inspection by ICDS Project Officers also needs to be intensified.
