Imphal, March 30 2016:
A student of JN Manipur Dance Academy, Yumnam Bhumeshwor has today decried the awarding of the Rajyapal Gold Medal to an undeserved candidate.
Bhumeshwor, in a press meet today has alleged that the candidate conferred with the medal had used unfair means in the examination (Post Diploma III year Pung Cholom Examination) .
JNMDA conducted its annual examinations for five of its departments Sankritan Pung, Nat Sankritan Music, Pung Cholom, Lai Haraoba Dance and Jagoi Ras on February 12 this year.
Bhumeshwor claimed that he saw the student copying from text books during Pung Cholom practical examinations while he was out on his way to the washroom.
He further accused the academy teachers of helping out the student in the malpractice.
He said he has the whole scene recorded in his mobile phone.
Bhumeshwor had submitted an application to the Pradhan Guru of the academy seeking strict punishment against the student in question.
The academy however failed to act on the matter and awarded the Rajyapal Gold Medal to the student.
Rajyapal Gold Medal Award is awarded annually to the student who achieves the highest academic standing in the Post-Diploma Course Final Year.
The award is handed out by the Governor of the State.
Bhumeshwor has appealed to the Governor of the State, Sangeet Natak Academy, New Delhi and students' bodies to look into the matter.
