CCpur, July 28 2016:
A day after Japanese Encephalitis (JE) claimed its first known victim in the district, the Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO) while welcoming the efforts taken up by the district health authorities as well as the district administration in tackling the situation said it would be extra appreciative if the vaccination exercise is scattered far and wide and fogging done in all susceptible areas.
The student body while addressing the press at its office here expressed their desire to see the vaccination drive spread across the district though the PHSCs and PHCs.
They also took serious note on the absence of road-side drain along the Tiddim Road from Chiengkon stream to Tuibuong stream, saying constant water logging in the area has caused immense hardship to students who walk to their school in the area and other commuters.
They have also reportedly petitioned the CE of PWD on the issue last month and repeated their plea today so that the need for a proper drainage could be addressed to at the earliest.
The KSO also alleged that the District Information Officer (DIO) at the DC office has been avoiding the office for the past two months and demanded that the authorities concerned should initiate proper action to ensure functioning of the crucial information office in this IT era.
