Imphal, June 28 2021:
The Manipur People's Party (MPP) has appealed to the State Government to make sure that there is no discrepancy in distribution of rice meant for people.
The MPP in a press note, took serious note of the news of irregularities in the distribution of rice under National Food Security Act (NFSA) and Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY) meant for poverty stricken families during pandemic time.
The emergence of such an event when people are aggrieved due to various restrictions is very saddening and MLAs concerned should be very ashamed of such cases, said MLA.
If the necessary steps are not taken to ensure fair share of rice to all beneficiaries, a second "Chaklam Khongchat'' is imminent, said MPP while drawing the attention of the Chief Minister to look into the matter seriously.
Government employees may be getting regular salaries during this pandemic but sadly the Government has failed to take a look at the fact that lakhs of people are struggling for bread daily and as such discrepancies even in distribution of NFSA and PMGKAY is very unfortunate, it said.
While appealing the State Government to provide financial assistance to widows of Covid victims, MPP also asked the State Government to come out with a white paper on the expenses incurred from the State's budget in fight against Covid, aid from Centre, donations received.
