'Declare Koubru and other sacred sites as protected area' says MDA

Manipur Democratic Alliance (MDA) which is an alliance of 9 political groups of Manipur including AAP and Shiv Sena urged the Government to declare Koubru and other hilly sacred sites as protected area and inorder to safeguard them.
The above statement was made by former MLA of Thongju A/C and chairman of MDA, Bijoy Koijam during a press meet held at his residence in Konung Mamang today.
Speaking to media persons, Bijoy Koijam stated that MDA will field candidates in the valley as well in the assembly constituencies of hills.
He stated that a meeting of executive council of MDA was convened today to discuss the ongoing issue of Koubru Impasse and upcoming State Assembly elections.

Talking about the controversial Koubru Impasse, he said that the Government should take the issue seriously and resolve it at the earliest consulting the representatives of both the communities involved instead of coming to terms with only one community.
He termed that the agreement which happened yesterday as one sided since it was between the Government and one community only and said that its unfortunate that Govt did not consult the other community concerned.
He further continued that Koubru is a sacred site of the Meiteis and no other community should not interfere in constructing of any structure in the area.
Bijoy Koijam urged the Govt to resolve the issue at the earliest to maintain peace and harmony in the State.
Lastly he stated that neither Congress or BJP will not able to get absolute majority in the upcoming State Assembly election and asserted that Manipur Democratic Alliance will play a mojor role in the upcoming election.
