Minister concedes hospital flaws

Health Mi-nister Phungzathang Tonsing has admitted that there are cer-tain loopholes in the mana- gement of Government hospitals.
The Minister was speaking as chief guest at the laun- ching function of free ambulance and ultrasound services of Mothers Care Children Hospital and Research Centre.
Phungzathang said that the State Government is committed to providing quality health care facility to the people.
However, the Government hospitals are currently pla-gued with incompetency and loopholes in management sections, he added.
Lauding the private hospitals for its efficient manage- ment, the Health Minister said that the management of Government hospitals are lagging behind in terms of sincerity as well.
Regarding Government's plan to privatise district hospitals under PPP model, Phungzathang Tonsing said that the said plan is part of State Government's effort to provide quality health care to people.
Doctors, nurses, technical and non-technical staff would remain as Government employees while the responsi- bility of the management of these hospitals is being planned to hand over to private parties on trial basis.
Seeking co-operation in this regard from the general public, the Minister expressed hope that the new plan would ensure quality health care services to the people of the State.
MLA Dr Ng Bijoy was the president of the function.
Dr IM Singh of Bradfort City, England, Dr Shah Alam of AIIMS, New Delhi, Dr Amuchou Soraisam of University of Calgary, Alberta, Canada were also present at the occasion as guests of honour.
