NPP sets eyes on over 30 seats

National People's Party (NPP), a partner of the BJP-led coalition Government, is determined to form the next State Government by itself without sharing power with any other party.
NPP president and Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma has declared that the party would put up its candidates in most of the Assembly Constituencies so that it secures more than 30 seats in the 60-Member Manipur Legislative Assembly.
Speaking to media persons at Classic Grande, Chingmeirong here today soon after his arrival at Imphal on a two-day visit to the State, Conrad Sangma claimed that NPP would be a major contender in the next Manipur Legislative Assembly election which is due early next year.
He informed that NPP has started due preparations for the election.
After holding several rounds of meetings at the organisational level, the party has strengthened its position in the entire North East region, Conrad Sangma claimed.
There were only two MLAs in the North East some years back but today there are many NPP MLAs in different States of the North East, said the party president.
He went on to claim that NPP is a key political platform for the entire North East region.
In tandem with the opening of a number of new units of the party in different Assembly Constituencies, many prominent political leaders have joined NPP, said the Meghalaya Chief Minister.
Stating that many more leaders would be joining the party in the coming days, Conrad Sangma announced that the party would fight the election on the agenda of economic development, generation of employment, infrastructure development, health care and education.
Many other key leaders of the NPP were also present at the press meet.
