Socio-economic and Caste census starts with CM

The official compilation of Socio-economic and Caste Census 2011 has commenced from today with the Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh becoming the first citizen of the State to be quizzed by the Census officials.
Those who posed prescribed questionnaires to O Ibobi Singh at the CM's Secretariat this morning include Imphal West Deputy Commission Ashok Kumar, SDC A Ragina Devi, Imphal Municipal Council DEO Kh Nimai, Ram Lal Paul Higher Secondary School Lecturer Kh Ingocha Singh (Supervisor), Ch Mahendra Singh (Enumerator) and Manitron DEO Y Fighter.
Among others the Census officials asked the CM on the number of his family members, their profession, character and number of rooms of his house.
a similar set of questions was also asked to Governor Gurbachan Jagat, the second individual to be covered by the record compilation exercise today.
Later speaking to newspersons, Imphal West DC Ashok Kumar informed that the exercise will facilitate relevant departments to roughly work out number of families belonging to Below Poverty Line category.
Informing that the Census exercise had begun simultaneously at Imphal West and Imphal East districts, he maintained that the record compilation work is being carried out with a number of personnel from MANITRON.
