Four killed in mishaps

Imphal, May 09 2011:
Four persons, including two sisters have been killed in different cases of motor accidents that took place today.
Two people died in two separate road mishaps this morning with same number claimed in an evening mishap.
In the first incident, an individual riding Honda Activa scooter died after he collided with a stray horse near Kekrupat here at about 10.30 am today.
The deceased has been identified as Haobijam Santosh (48) s/o (late) Shamungou of Sagolband Pangabam Leikai.
He was coming from Minuthong side when a galloping horse rushed towards him.
Santosh tried to avoid the horse but was not quick enough and the horse rammed into his scooter.
First, Santosh was taken to Raj Polyclinic and then referred to Shija Hospital but succumbed to the injuries.
The other mishap happened at Singjamei Chingamathak wherein a youth riding a bike (Yamaha R 15) collided with a passenger diesel auto-rickshaw at about 10.30 am.
The victim namely as Thokchom Somorjit (25) s/o Suresh of Meitram Makha Leikai succumbed to the injuries at hospital.
two sisters got killed and their parents injured after a truck rammed at the Honda Activa scooter they were riding on at Wangkhei Thangjam Leikai area under Porompat police station at around 4 pm today.
The deceased girls have been identified as Khumanthem Tarubi (15) and her younger sibbling Tondon (11).They came on riding the Honda Activa with their mother Amubi driving scooter.
The mother was also critically injured in the accident and is undergoing treatment at RIMS Hospital.
The family hails from Mayang Imphal but are currently putting up at Wangkhei Puja Lampak.
