Around 750 acres of illegal poppy cultivation destroyed: NCB

Imphal, January 07 2012:
A joint team consisting of NCB Imphal, 38 Assam Rifles and 46 Assam Rifles under 27 Sector, Churachandpur district police and AMADA have destroyed around 750 acres of illicit poppy cultivation in the areas of Churachandpur district during a mass drive conducted from December 30 to January 5 .
A release issued by Superintendent of NCB Imphal informed that the mass drive was organised under the supervision of Regional Director, Narcotics Control Bureau, Imphal.
The Regional Director also appealed to the public to provide information to NCB if illegal cultivation of poppy plants occurred in other known areas.
The release further mentioned that NCB has a policy of giving rewards to the officers who participated in the destruction of illicit poppy cultivation and also for informers who give specific information of the location where the illicit cultivation is occurred.
