Bomb blast, grenade attack, scooter hijacked

Imphal, January 07 2011:
A hand grenade hurled by some unidentified armed persons exploded at a house in the densely inhabited area of KR lane under Imphal East district late evening today.
According to information culled from the site of the incident, the bomb landed and exploded at the house of one Abdul Khalif alias Khamba (38) of Borayangbi, Bishnupur district, but staying in KR Lane.
Khalif is a businessman, engaged in manufacturing Ngari.
At the time of the blast, Khalif was not at home.
He said that he has not received any monetary demand from any UG group.
Though no one was hurt in the blast, a car, Chevolet Spark parked in compound suffered damage.
The wall of the house of Khalif's neighbour identified as Boipu Serto (50) also suffered some damage in the explosion apart from puncturing the rear tyre of a Yamaha motorcycle parked in the compound of another neighbour identified as S Manisek Kom.
In another incident, unidentified armed person left a hand grenade for the second time to threaten the family members of Keisham Rajendro, who is a BDO under Imphal West district at the gate of his official quarters at Lamphel today evening.
The hand grenade was detected at around 6.45 pm.
On November 25, 2009, another hand grenade had been lobbed at his quarters by unidentified armed persons.
Grenade attack: Unidentified armed persons lobbed a hand grenade inside the residential compound of a house at Porompat Thawanthaba under Imphal East district today morning.
Two motorcycle-borne youths lobbed the hand grenade at the house of Langpoklakpam Ibouchou Singh, who is an employee in Tourism Department, at around 11 am today.
The hand grenade, however, did not explode.
Police have detonated the bomb at a safer place.
Scooter hijacked :Unidentified persons have hijacked a Honda Activa scooter from Chongtham Kona under Imphal West district last night.
The registration number of the hijacked scooter is said to be MN-04B/3854 .
It belongs to one Elangbam Ibomcha of Thoudam.
Bodies found:At least two bodies including that of a newly born child were found in Lamka area of Churachandpur district.
The corpse of the newly born child was found near Dr Ambedkar School at New Lamka yesterday afternoon.
Meanwhile, a 30-year old young man identified as Charongkung of Bethel village was found dead at Yelhang under Lamka today morning.
It is suspected to be a case of drug overdose.
