Imphal, June 06, 2013:
Reiterating that enforcement of ILP system in the State would check unrestrained migration of outsiders, the Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System today urged all concerned to extend support to the JCILPS movement.
The Joint Committee further warned that any non-locals who defy the restrictions imposed by the Committee would be at their own risk.
Pointing out that permanent settlement benefits are not entitled to outsiders under ILPS, a statement issued today by the JCILPS said enforcement of the system would help in keeping the land, culture, tradition and identity of the indigenous people intact.
Besides, it would also limit down the migration of outsiders in the State, it said adding that the implementation of the system would ensure protection of migrants.
The statement added that population dilution would be avoided best with the enforcement of the ILP system Meanwhile, the Khwairamband Nupi Keithel Sinpham Amadi Saktam Kanba Lup would stage a sit-in-protest on June 9 to demand the enforcement of ILPS in the State.
A statement issued by the Lup today urged all vendors of Khwairamband Bazar to participate in the sit-in.
It further urged all concerned to stop entertainment programmes like cinema for the day in the area.
