Drug smuggling cops : Remanded to 15 days judicial custody

Imphal, May 06 2013:
All the 11 police personnel who were apprehended with illegal drugs having pseudoephedrine contents worth Rs 3.6 crores have been remanded to judicial custody for 15 days.
A ruling to this effect was issued by the Judge, Special Court (ND&PS) Manipur today.
All the 11 police personnel including two officers were produced before the Court at Lamphelpat.
Even though, six of them pleaded for bail, the Court rejected their plea.
The six accused who pleaded for bail were SI Beishamayum Devson, Constables Thanglenmang Touthang, Maibam Henik, Ngangom Premjit, Ningthoujam Surkumar and Rifleman Soram Ranbir.
All the six are attached to Imphal East District Police commando unit and they were posted at Moreh at the time of their arrest.
The other five identified as Jamedar H Premananda.
Constables Nongmai- them Priyokumar, Sorensang-bam Opendrajit, Thokchom Bijendro and Rifleman Ningthoujam Nilamani are attached to Thoubal Police Commando unit and they too were posted at Moreh at the time of their arrest.
