The All Manipur Anti-Drugs Association in association Kongpal Lai Hiden's Meira Paibi and Industrious Students' Association, Kongpal Lai Hiden organised an awareness programme on the negative impact of drug abuse and illicit trafficking at Kongpal Lai Hiden today.
Delivering the keynote address, advisor to Meira Paibi, Kongpal Lai Hiden, Ch Leirik voiced her concern over the increasing use of drugs and its impact on society.
Leirik said that the main objective of holding the awareness programme is to eradicate drug abuse and save the community from further degradation.
SP of Narcotics Control Bureau, RK Ibungosana who addressed the gathering as a resource person said that parents and teachers have a great responsibility in keeping the young away from drugs, as it is the young students who are more prone to drug abuse.
Staff nurse (ART) of JNIMS, H Sorojini highlighted the impact of drug/substance on women and children.
Using visual aids, Dr Angomacha, phychiatrist at Bishnupur district hospital explained the impact and effect of drugs and substance abuse on the human body and added that addiction is more a disease of the mind than the body.
