17 new cases logged, active caseload at 62

Just 24 hours after Chief Minister N Biren reviewed the overall Covid situation in the face of the sudden jump in the number of daily infections, Manipur reported 17 new cases taking the total number of active cases to 62 .
This is the second time in the month of July alone that the State has reported new cases in double digit after the 16 recorded on July 3 .
According to a statement from the COVID-19 Common Control Room, Manipur recorded 17 new cases in the last 24 hours, all from the general public.
They tested positive at RIMS (2) and other testing centres (15) .
The positive cases are from Imphal East (5), Imphal West (5), Thoubal (3), Bishnupur (1) and Chandel (3) .
The overall daily positivity rate was pegged at 7.5 percent and districtwise Chandel recorded a worrying 42.9 percent as three out of the 7 samples tested returned positive results.
With five out of 38 samples testing positive, Imphal East returned a figure of 13.2 daily positivity rate while Imphal West recorded 6.5 daily positivity rate as 5 out of 77 samples tested turned out positive.
Thoubal too recorded a high daily positivity rate of 25 percent as 3 out of 12 samples tested returned positive results.
The total number of deaths due to Covid remain unchanged at 2120 as no new deaths due to the virus were reported in the same period of time.
Altogether 4 persons were discharged in the last 24 hours from home isolation (2) and Shija hospitals (2) .
The cumulative number of positive cases stands at 1,37,323 including 5014 Central security personnel while the cumulative number of recovered cases is 1,35,141 inclusive of 5007 Central security personnel.
The recovery rate is 98.41 percent.
The number of Covid vaccine administered on July 4 is 3248 and the cumulative doses administered is 29,68,946 including 12,60,656 second dose and 1,13,809 precautionary dose.
On July 4, a total of 75 D Type oxygen cylinder and 4 B Type oxygen cylinders were made available to different health centres across the State.
