Imphal, July 05: A combined team of Imphal West District Police Commandos and Maratha Light Infantry reportedly arrested one KCP activist from his house on July 4 at about 4.55 am.

According to a statement issued by Senior Superintendent of Police, Imphal West District L Kailun, the arrested KCP activist has been identified as Naoroibam Chaoba Singh (30) s/o N Ibobi Singh of Mayang Langjing Taming Maning Leikai.

On preliminary verification, Chaoba disclosed that he joined KCP in March 2007 through one Ratan Singh alias Inao of Lamdeng Khunou and he as assigned to collect a sum of Rs 73,000 from the office of Manipur State AIDS Control Society, Lamphel for party fund and handed over to Ratan Singh, the police officer said, adding that one 9 mm pistol with one magazine and three live rounds of 9 mm ammunition were recovered and seized from his possession.

The police officer further informed that based on further interrogation, another KCP activist, Nongthombam Ratan Singh alias Ratankumar alias Gopi alias Inao (34) s/o late Kala Singh of Lamdeng Khunou was arrested from his house.

On preliminary verification, Ratan disclosed that he joined KCP in March 2007 through one S/S Sgnt Major of KCP identify as Naobi alias Phillips of Lairenkabi Mamang Leikai and now working under his' command.

Ratan was assigned to extort money from the Government offices for party fund, the SSP added.

In another statement, the SSP conveyed the arrest of three KYKL activists and two armed suppliers by a combined force of Imphal West Police Commandos and 12 Maratha Light Infantry on July 4. The SSP informed that the KYKL activist identified as Khongbantabam Naoba Singh alias Chinglemba alias Mairenjao (18) s/o Kh Lokcn Singh of Lamdeng Khunou, Lamshang (army no.480) as arrested from Lamshang area at around 12.10pm.On preliminary interrogation, Naoba disclosed that he joined KYKL and underwent training at Burma (Myanmar).

Based on further interrogation, two women activists of KYKL were also apprehended from Lamsang Bazar and they have been identified as Mutum Prabhabati Devi (29) d/o M Thoiba Singh of Lamsang Bazar and Soibam Rebika Devi (29) d/o S Shitol Singh of Mayang Imphal Konchak.

Again on July 4 at around 5.30 pm, the combined team arrested two armed supplies from Ningombam crossing along Tiddim Road.

Identifying the arms suppliers as Chungsai Vaiphei(47) s/o late Paolung Vaiphei of Phatjang village near Kakta Maning, Bishnupur district and Lhingboi Kimhing (55) w/o Koukholun of Saiton, Bishnupur district, the SSP disclosed that one 9 mm pistol with one magazine and two live rounds of ammunition were recovered and seized from the possession of Lhingboi Kimhing.

In yet another statement,the SSP informed that one UNLF activist has also been arrested from near RIMS main gate at around 2 pm, on July 5. The arresting activist has been identified as Md Fei Tozuddin alias Wahidur 28 s/o late Md Addil of Urip Arapti(army no.18567) and on preliminary verification, he disclosed that he joined UNLF in November 2003 through one lance corporal Nanao of UNLF and got 45th days basic military training at Sajik Tampak.

On the other hand, Imphal East Police Commandos have reportedly arrested three UG activists, one belonging to PULF and the other two to KCP from different parts on July 4. According to a statement issued by SP of Imphal East District Th Radheshyam Singh, a team of Imphal East-Police Commandos arrested the PULF activist identified as Md Riyajuddin alias Amuba alias Hyder Ali (54) s/o late Md Najmul Hussain of Khergao Makha Leikai from New Check-on at around 9 am of July 4. On verification, Md Riyajuddin disclosed that hejoined PULF in June 2004 through one S/S finance secretary Zamin alias Saroj Khan and is no now holding the rank of S/S vice chair�man of PULF (Umar Farooque faction).

On the same day at around 10.30 am, the SP further informed, another team of Police Commandos also arrested two KCP cadres identified as Leimapokpam Inaocha Singh (35) s/o late L Babu Singh of Athokpam Nepra Company and Maibam Royal Singh (28)s/ o M Ibopishak Singh of Kyamgei makha Leikai from Bamon Leikai.

On verification, Inaocha disclosed that he joined KCP in 2000 through one Dhana of Kyamgei and Riyal disctosed that joined the outfit in February 2008 through one Tamnganba of finance section of the outfit.

They also disclosed that they are now working under the command of Tamnganba.

Meanwhile, according to a statement issued by PRO Assam Rifles, troops of 34 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector under HQ IGAR (South) launched an operation in general area of Poirou Khongjil and apprehended on PULF (Azad) activist yesterday.

Identifying the arrested individual as Naha Tomba alias Taj Khan (22) s/ o late Yunab Khan of Tulihal Khongjin Leikai, the PRO Assam Rifles informed that the apprehendee has been handed over to Yairipok Police Station.

The PRO further informed that in another incident, troops of 17 Assam Rifles established permanent vehicle check post in general area of Awangkasom Market and intercepted a Tata 207 DI registered no.MN-01 W-0475 on July 4.The vehicle was moving from Ukhrul to Jessami and during the search one suspected NSCN (1-M) cadre later identified as AS James (26) s/o Penepory of Malchon village was apprehended along with one 9 mm pistol, one No.26 hand grenade and seven ammunition.

The apprehendee along with the recovered items have been handed over to the Imphal West Police Station yesterday, the PRO added.
