Imphal, May 05 2011:
In continuation of their campaign to collect text books which remain undistributed, a joint team of AMSU, MSF, DESAM and KSA recovered text books found stored in Block Resource Centre Heibongpokpi in Imphal West district today.
The text books for class I to VIII would be distributed to students of schools under Zone I .
Incidentally, these text books were for 2010 session but the authorities failed to distribute them to students.
Whatever text books which are in use in the current academic session would distributed to students.
Already, the students have recovered large number of text books from the zonal offices of Imphal East, Bishnupur and Thouba districts.
The same campaign was taken to Zone I office of Imphal West district.
Speaking to media persons, MSF general secretary Anash Shah said that the campaign is aimed at providing text books to students by collecting the undistributed SSA text books in view of the shortage of BSEM prescribed text books in the market.
However, some of the text books which were in use last year are not included in the current syllabi.
The student bodies were compelled to launch the text book collection drive because of the failure of ZEOs to distribute the text books, he said.
