Imphal, October 03 2020:
Communist Party of India (CPI) Manipur State Council has appealed to the people to elect candidates belonging only to secular parties in the scheduled by-polls.
CPI Manipur State Council in a statement, reiterated the party's stand to refrain from the by-polls considering the prevailing situation owing to COVID-19 outbreak.
The party however appealed to people to vote wisely and elect candidates fielded by secular parties only.
If not, the BJP will usurp all sectors and will make the lives of minorities, farmers and backward people more miserable, it alleged.
The policies of the BJP-led NDA Government clearly reflect its plan to corporatize every sector including Railways which is one of the highest contributors to the National economy, it said while adding that such move to distribute the hard earned National treasures among the big corporates is going to ruin the country.
Only the rich will be able to survive while the struggle of the working class people and farmers will be compounded which will ultimately pauperise them on a scale that has never been seen before, it said.
Even if the Election Commission is adamant in holding the by-polls, a strict SOP must be developed and enforce it effectively, the statement continued.
Appealing Election Commission of India to keep a strict vigil over unscrupulous activities of political parties to ensure free and fair by-polls, CPI Manipur State Council also urged the Election Commission of India act independently.
