ADC poll : 8 Congmen declared elected

Out of the 10 Constituencies under Senapati and Ukhrul Autonomous District Councils where election is scheduled to be held on October 24, Congress candidates have been declared elected uncontested in 8 Constituencies.
According to information received from the State Election Commission, on the last day of withdrawal of nomination papers today, two Independent candidates withdrew their respective nomination papers in Chawangnamei Khullen Constituency, thus leaving the seat to the Congress candidate.
Congress candidates have already been declared elected uncontested in Shangsak, Tungam Khullen, Punanamei, Songsong, Maram, Lairouching and Tadubi constituencies.
Now the stage is set for election in Phaibung constituency of Senapati ADC and Chingai constituency of Ukhrul ADC where Congress candidates have been pitted against Independent candidates.
The United Naga Council had earlier asked all the elected members of the ADCs to resign to respect the decision to boycott the election.
On the other hand, Election Commission of India is scheduled to organise a workshop on election expenditure monitoring for all the political parties in the Assembly election-bound States including Manipur.
According to information received from State Election Department, the workshop would be held on October 17 at New Delhi and it would discuss issues related to election expenditure monitoring in Assembly election-bound States namely Manipur, Punjab, Goa, Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal.
The Election Commission has already served circular to all the National as well as State political parties in these election-bound States for participation in the workshop.
