Attack on MLA MK Preshow flayed

Denouncing the life attempt on MLA MK Preshow by unidentified gunmen in Ukhrul district few days back, the All Tribal Students' Union Manipur (ATSUM) has urged the concerned groups/individuals to come out in public over the matter.
Perturbed by the escalating violence and lawlessness in the State, a statement issued by Mikah Kamei, Information and Publicity secretary of ATSUM expressed strong condemnation of violence in any form and gun culture that is becoming fashionable in the society.
The irresponsible action is unbecoming when there is a concerted movement to usher in peace and tranquillity in the region, ATSUM statement noted while adding that a time has come to realise that any difference can be resolved through sincere and impassioned dialogue.
ATSUM once again gave a clarion call to one and all, irrespective of community or ethnicity to invigorate the peace making process that has already begun while also appealing all concerned to stand up and say �No' to bloodshed.
Meanwhile, S Wungnaoyo Shimzingwo, headman in-charge of Ukhrul Village Authority condemned the life attempt on MLA ML Preshow at Kuiva Kacho located within the jurisdiction of Ukhrul.
In the same vein, the headman also said that any untoward incident meted out to any of the inhabitants within the purview of the VA is viewed as a threat to peaceful coexistence and crime against humanity.
The Headman In-charge further said that amidst the controversy that surrounds the incident, the retaliatory reign of terror unleashed in the otherwise peaceful town of Ukhrul in the aftermath of the dramatic ambush is unfortunate while appealing the SFs to respect the sentiments of the innocents and to maintain traffic decency in future.
It also called upon all right thinking citizens to restrain from any unhealthy practice of violence thereby protecting the peaceful atmosphere of Ukhrul town and promote a sense of brotherhood among one and all.
The Chingai Block Congress Committee, in its emergency meeting held on May 1, strongly condemned the assassination attempt on MK Preshow Shimray, MLA of Chingai AC and some of his workers and DLOs at Kuvakkajo on April 30.It further appealed all concerned not to repeat such acts of violence in the future.
