Imphal, August 30 2016:
BJP Manipur Pradesh has joined hand with police aspirants in raising voice against the cancellation of the recruitment process of police Constable (Male) of 2013 batch.
A large number of State BJP leaders and workers led by their president K Bhabananda and All Manipur Written Test Successful Candidates of Police Constable (Male) 2013 took out a rally and submitted a memorandum to the Governor.
Drawing Governor's attention to the issue, BJP in their memorandum demanded that an independent inquiry be ordered to probe the irregularities detected in the process of police Constable recruitment and subsequent cancellation of the recruitment process.
Speaking to reporters, K Bhabananda said that his party would not allow to do any injustice to the police aspirants of 2013 batch.
Regarding the arrest of BJP MLAs Kh Joykishan and Th Bishwajit during a protest on the issue at Pangei, Bhabananda said that they would never request the State Government to release the two MLAs.
Earlier, large number of police aspirants and BJP leaders and workers held a joint meeting at BJP Manipur Pradesh head office at Nityaipat Chuthek.
Later, they took out a protest rally towards Raj Bhavan in their bid to submit a memorandum to the Governor.
The rallyists led by BJP State president K Bhabananda were blocked a large police team led by Imphal West Additional SP (Operations) Th Vikramjit near the place where construction of the new office building of DIPR is going on.
Police asked the rallyists to return stating that they would not be allowed to proceed further beyond that point.
After a brief argument between the police and rallyists, some selected BJP leaders were allowed to submit the memorandum.
The memorandum said that the State Home Department had recently cancelled the recruitment process of 2000 police Constables (Male) of 2013 batch on flimsy grounds after conducting PET, written test and interview one after another.
Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, who also holds Home portfolio had told the media that the recruitment process had been cancelled due to detection of discrepancies, the memorandum said.
On the very day of cancellation of the recruitment process ie August 20, 2016, a fresh recruitment had been notified with the constitution of a new recruitment committee and appointment of a new chairman.
The hasty cancellation of the recruitment process without proper justification showed mala fide intention of the Government of Manipur, the memorandum said.
The memorandum said that this atrocious act of the Congress Government led by Chief Minister Okram Ibobi would create social unrest in the State.
The State BJP demanded that all sorts of police recruitment be stopped until the results of police Constable (Male) of 2013 batch are announced after thoroughly probing the irregularities by an independent inquiry committee.
