Injured persons identified

Imphal, July 30 2012:
Three persons including one civilian and AR jawans who were injured in an encounter with the proscribed PLA were identified today but two women of the village where the encounter took place are still missing, said police source on Monday.
The three persons were identified as L.Singh and RS.Singh of 24 AR posted at Tengnoupal and they were admitted at Leimakhong AR Hospital and the civilian identified as Touthang Mocha Khoibu (50) of Bijang village, Chandel District, have been admitted at RIMS.
The encounter took place yesterday at Bijang village Khoibu Centre under Tengnoupal Police Station, Chandel District.
A relative of Touthang Mocha Khoibu, said that in the village around 30 cadres of the PLA came to the village.
The same day the cadres of PLA have lunch in the community hall of the area, and suddenly they saw an AR trucks coming toward the village and sentry of the UGs opened fire towards the AR vehicles.
He also said that such incident were very frequent in the village.
The villagers have condemned the incident and appealed to all concerned not to repeat such gun-fight in the future.
They further appealed to the State Government to open a police outpost as soon as possible at the village for safety of the villagers.
Two women of the Bejang village are still missing after the incident, said a police source.
