Imphal, July 29 2011:
Referring to the news items about students of Sainik School Imphal revolting against their Principal as published on July 26, the school authority has clarified that the Principal's son has never visited cadets' mess or dormitories till date.
According to information culled from outside the school, trouble started in the evening of July 25, when the Principal's son allegedly boasted to the students that he can have them expelled from the school, during dinner time in the dining hall.
Rejecting the report that the Principal caned three cadets, a press release issued by TIPR, Sainik School Imphal clarified that the Principal never picked up a cane or any instrument to give corporal punishment.
Since the arrival of the present Principal, physical punishment/ragging/beating etc have become history in the school.
The Principal never used any abusive language, it countered.
Rejecting all the reports of the Principal ill treating students, it said that the Principal demonstrated the difference between 'bullying' and 'having fun' in five different class rooms in order to root out the unattended psychological disease in academic institutions.
The values of brotherhood, discipline, punctuality, respect for elder and women, compassion, refraining from intoxicants, respect for authorities, adherence to institutional rules and regulation, fear of god etc cannot be compromised at Sainik School, it added.
The version of the Army PRO was carried on the day that the report about the incident at Sainik School was published in this paper.
