Agricultural skills empowerment training launched online

Online launch of an Agricultural Skills Empowerment Initiative with Western Sydney University, Australia, was held today at CAU, Imphal Headquarters, Lamphelpat.
The online launch was attended by Dr Arunachallam, Asst Director General (International), ICAR, Commissioners of Department of Agriculture, Cooperation & Farmers Welfare (DARE), Representatives of MANAGE, ICICI foundation, Austrade, Directors, Deputy Directors and Deans of CAU, Imphal, along with Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Pro Vice-Chancellor and other representatives of Western Sydney University.

During the meeting, Vice-Chancellor of CAU Imphal Dr Anupam Mishra highlighted that North Eastern Region of India is one of the richest reservoirs of genetic variability and diversity of different crops and has wide scope for organic farming, ornamental fishes, horticultural crops, conservation and improvement of germplasm.
He informed that a total of 65 students from four constituent colleges of CAU will be participating in the 16 weeks training in the disciplines of agriculture, horticulture, forestry, food technology and dietetics and nutrition.
Furthermore, he stressed that, besides education and research, the programme will benefit students in Skill and Entrepreneurship development.
The students will be trained in entrepreneurship and innovation skills by renowned faculty members of Western Sydney University and successful industrialists.
The programme is based on MoU signed between Western Sydney University and CAU, Imphal for development of collaborative research project, exchange of academic staff for teaching & research activities, exchange of students to undertake study/participate in research program.
The programme is being conducted under the flagship of Institutional Development Plan granted to CAU Imphal under National Agricultural Higher Education Project of ICAR.
