Imphal, October 26 2011:
Demanding direct recruitment as Primary teachers, members of the All Manipur Education Volunteers' Welfare Association took out a silent rally and held a meeting
here today.
Starting from Takhellambam Leikai, members of the association were marching towards Manipur Press Club but they were blocked by police at Keishampat.
The rallyists carried placards which read as "Education Volunteers should be recruited as primary teachers without any condition", "Don't be an indifferent Government", "Understand the plight of Education Volunteers", "We condemn suppression of Education Volunteers by the Principal Secretary Education (S)" etc.
Though the rally was cut short by police at Keishampat, the participants went to Manipur Press Club and held a meeting there.
The meeting adopted different resolutions including launching of different modes of agitation together with student organisations if the Government does not consider the case of Education Volunteers by October 30 .
